Too Many Golf Swing Thoughts Will Ruin Your Game - Beware Or Try a Different Way to Improve
If you are new to the game of golf you may not have experienced this yet but if you play for any length of time, you will. If you have been playing a while, perhaps years, then you will have already had the displeasure of having to endure what I am about to describe.
You know when you start thinking about how to swing, properly I mean, or at least properly according to someone else. Could be you've had a lesson from a Pro or maybe you are following the advice of a friend or another amateur, which is generally a seriously bad idea.
Anyway you get to thinking and next thing you know you're consciously trying to control the way your body moves and pretty much doing a poor job of it. Ironically the more you try to control your swing, with the noble intention of improving, the more the swing breaks down and the worse you get. It's paralysis by analysis.
The more swing thoughts you have, the worse it gets. You try one or two things and that doesn't seem to work so you try another little move and then you get told that X isn't right either so you try and change that too. Pretty soon you are keeping this arm straight while that one bends, but the elbow is in while at the same time the hip goes that way and the left knee does this and... YOUR IN BIG TROUBLE!
Now before all of you swing mechanic purists get bent out of shape please take note that I am not saying golfers should not try to improve your swing mechanics if they want improvement through that method. Understand that working on mechanics can be a frustrating time and your game may well suffer for a while and make sure you are working with a good coach.
Make the decision to work slowly and methodically on your swing over a long period of time. Having one or two half hour lessons is pretty much a complete waste of time and money. You just will not have installed any meaningful long term neural pathways in such a short period of time and within a few weeks or months you will be back to your old ways.
Working with a coach consistently, perhaps a twelve month program with one or two lessons a month is definitely the way to go. You can set and achieve meaningful goals in that time and it is long enough to work slowly and methodically on long term change rather than trying to build Rome in a day.
Know this. You will never perfect your golf swing and you are well advised not to ever both trying to get perfect. It's unachievable in golf and will just cause you misery and frustration, the reason many a golfer has quit the great game.

Improve Golf Driver Distance Fast - ...important to pick a driver that suits your swing speed. If you have a lot of power in your golf swing then you will want to make sure that you are using a stiff shaft driver with around 9 or 9.5 degrees of loft. If your swing speed is less than 100 mph then go for a driver that has a regular flex or senior flex and a loft over 10 degrees. Look for simulators at the golf stores where you can try out various lofts and also consider getting custom fit clubs to make sure that you are getting the best performance from the clubs you are using. Leverage or lag is another important aspect to help you hit the ball further. You do not need big muscles to hit a golf ball far, yes...
Golf Driver Tips For Better Accuracy And Distance - ...is nothing wrong with swinging hard, in fact that is a great idea but you must stay balanced. If you find you are losing balance then you need to back off a little because maybe you are trying too hard.
