How To Shoot Lower Golf Scores With Less Effort
Golf is indeed a great game that almost anyone can enjoy but nobody likes to play poorly and we all want to get better without having to spend all our time and energy on the practice range. There are certain key factors to the game you need to understand in order to be at your best. One important point to keep in mind is that the short game (shots inside 150 yards) contribute to at least 60% of your overall scores. This means that you should spend at least 60 percent of your practice time working on shorter shots with the wedge, putter and chip shots around the green.
How to putt well:
Putting is like a separate game within a game and can really make a big difference to your scoring and handicap. The first step is to select a putting technique you feel comfortable with and like. Do not get caught up trying to find the perfect putting stroke instead pick a main technique and putter and refine that whilst working on grooving your technique and working on your mental game in order to be at your best. You want to make putting a reaction game so you do not want to think too much as you are about to hit the putt, simply setup properly and look at the target and make the stroke with the target in mind. Putting really is primarily a mental game so do not get too caught with your putting technique instead work on your attitude and being able to clear your mind when you hit the putt.
Course management is another important part of golf that can quickly remove strokes from your handicap. It is better to have a conservative strategy than to be too bold when you are on the course. You need to know your strengths and weaknesses and need to learn to play high percentage shots that you know you can pull off most of the time. Taking risky shots on the course is not the answer to consistently playing at your best. For instance if you are on the tee on a short par 4 then your primary goal should be to get to the 150 marker in the fairway. For most people this means using an iron or a 3 wood at most so always taking out driver and trying to hit the green is not the best approach since you will bring too much trouble into play.Click here to learn more on how to shoot lower scores fast.
