How To Get A Better Golf Swing Fast

The golf swing can seem complicated and difficult to execute and learning it can be frustrating. It is important to learn good fundamentals first otherwise you will be heading down the wrong track and hitting the ball more consistently will become difficult. The first thing to learn is the grip, there are various grips you can use and many new players start with the baseball grip however this grip may not be the best option for golf.

Most professionals use the interlocking grip as it offers many advantages that help to develop a swing that has both maximum power and accuracy. This grip is performed by placing the small finger of the right hand over the index finger of the left hand and this is for right handed players. The opposite applies for left handed players. Do not grip the club too tightly with the right hand, in fact your right hand should be passive during the golf swing, instead use your left hand to apply enough grip pressure.

You really do not need to grip the club too strongly unless you are hitting a shot out of deep rough where you will need to grip the club in order to prevent the club head from twisting at impact. The stance is important and should be as upright as possible with a slight bend at the hips. Do not bend your spine instead strive to maintain a straight back and spine throughout the setup position and golf swing.

Your hands at setup should be placed where they would naturally hang if you were not holding the club. Do not extend your hands out, keep them closer to your body as this will promote an optimal swing plane that hits the ball far and straight. The ball position will vary depending on the club. For the wedge the ball should be at the center of the stance and as the clubs get longer the ball should be positioned further left until you reach the driver where the ball will be roughly aligned with your left foot.

The backswing should be initiated with your left shoulder turning as much as you can. It is not necessary to be too slow or too fast but rather move at a pace that is comfortable for you and promotes good balance. The downswing should start ideally with your left hand pulling the club through the impact zone and follow through.

Do not try to use your dominant right hand to force the club in an effort to create more club head speed as this will usually result in poor golf mechanics and inaccurate shots. Make sure your head stays relatively still, it will move slightly but do not raise it before impact otherwise this will probably cause a slice. Keep the swing as simple as possible for maximum results as a simpler swing is easier to execute and more consistent. The ‘Simple Golf Swing’ system can teach you a proven way to swing the club that promotes consistency and improved distance. Click here to learn more.
