How To Increase Your Golf Driving Distance Fast

The driver is the most difficult club in the bag to hit and learning how to master the driver can be a tough challenge. There are many factors that go into hitting a long drive. Here are a few golf driving tips that may help you to hit this club farther and straighter:

Tip 1: Tee the ball the right height

The ideal height for the tee is to be able to see half the golf ball over the top of the driver head when you are setup. This will help to ensure that you launch the ball the right trajectory for maximum distance.

Tip 2: Build greater lag

The professionals hit the ball very far primarily due to the huge lag they create before impact. If you can learn to increase the lag in your swing you will be able to hit the ball much farther with less effort. One way to increase lag is to start the downswing with a shift of weight to the left (right handed players). This helps to load the club at the top of the swing.

The main idea is to delay the release of the club as much as possible so that maximum energy is transferred to the ball at impact. Another tip to develop more lag is to think of the golf club like a whip and try to use a whipping motion to swing the club. Also avoid getting your right hand involved too much in the swing as this can result in casting the club and releasing it too early which will result in loss of distance.

Tip 3: Get proper equipment for your swing type

If you have a lower club head speed (less than 100mph) then you should consider a regular flex driver and a higher loft (over 10 degrees) to maximize distance. If your club head speed is over 100 mph then you should get a stiff flex driver with less loft (8 or 9 degrees) in order to hit the ball the farthest.

Tip 4: Build wrist strength

Having strong wrists is important in order to generate the most club head speed possible. Perform wrist curl exercises with weights to build your wrist muscles.

Tip 5: Weight train

Building overall muscular strength will inevitably help you to hit the ball farther so join a local gym and take a few personal training sessions or buy a home gym and do regular weight training exercises for both the upper and lower body. Hitting the ball far can help to lower your scores. If you want to really shoot low scores then the ‘How To Break 80’ system may be able to help you.
