Golf Swing Help Tips
The golf swing can seem complex and it is easy to get frustrated if you find yourself experiencing lack of improvement. The first step in learning the golf swing is to learn the grip properly. There are a few different grips you can use however the most popular and probably the most effective is the interlocking grip. This grip involves locking the index finger of the left hand with the small finger of the right hand (right handed players). If you have large hands then you may want to consider the overlapping grip where the small finger of the right hand overlaps on top of the index finger of the left hand.
The Stance:
The width of the stance will vary depending on the length of the club. The longer the club gets the wider the stance you should use until a shoulder width stance for the driver. You should bend at the hips at the address position and avoid slouching your back too much if you can, keep your spine as straight as you can. Start the backswing by keeping your left hand straight (applies to right handed players) and go back as far as you can comfortably. During the downswing be sure to keep your head down and feel yourself pulling the club through the hitting zone.
Do not grip the club too tightly, apply most of your grip pressure with the left hand and keep the right arm passive through the swing. If you get the right hand too involved then this can lead to an outside to in swing path that can cause slice shots which you want to avoid in order to get better. Do not think too much about swing mechanics when you are over the ball, simply focus on the target and make the swing freely.
