Learn How Not to Sway in the Golf Swing

When you are executing your swing, your body will actually be moving fluidly. This body motion is very much needed so that you can create just enough torque and power to send your ball just where you want it to go. Thus, you need to be able to move your body just the right away, and this is precisely why you also need to learn how NOT to sway in the golf swing. Yes, your body may be in fluid motion, but you would still have to remain firm and rigid to some extent. Swaying should then be regarded as a no-no in the game of golf. When there is too much motion in your swing, then you are in for a whole lot of trouble.

Where does the sway potentially occur? Actually, it is during the transition stage that this sway just might occur. This is that part of the golf swing where you shift your weight from one foot to another, as you draw your club backwards then move it accordingly for your downswing. When too much weight is being transferred during the execution of the backswing, this would actually result to delay in the execution of the downswing. When this happens, your tempo and timing will certainly be off, causing you to sway as you complete your swing. The result? An unpredictable trajectory for your ball. Thus, the main thing to remember here is for weight transfer to be just enough so that you are still able to recover and maintain that much needed rhythm.

A common mistake golfers make is the transfer too much weight to the back foot when executing the back swing. Other golfers would even transfer all of their weight! This is a big no-no in golf because this would just prevent you from transferring your weight back to your forward foot. And you actually have to do this by the time your club hits the ball! If you are unable to do this, then this would result to what is known as an open clubface. The next thing you know, you would actually be spinning out.

So, how do you know enough weight is transferred? The key to this is to make what is known as just a snapping type of weight transfer. Do not go for the complete one at all. This means that the weight transfer here would just be for a short period of time. Your back foot would feel the weight transfer for just a few seconds before your weight is shifted back to your front foot. A mere portion of your weight should just be felt by your back foot.

This is the perfect way to learn how not to sway in the golf swing and improve your game dramatically.
