Useful Golf Swing Tips For Free - ...is a big part of playing solid golf and if you are good at the short game then this will translate into a more confident full swing since you will not step over your long shots in fear that you might miss the green or the fairway since you know that even if you do occasionally miss you can still recover and do well. The tempo of your swing is important however being balanced is even more important. How fast your backswing and downswing need to be is determined by your natural tempo so some people by their nature move and talk fast while others are much slower so settle with a rhythm and tempo that works...
Improve Golf Driver Distance Fast - ...important to pick a driver that suits your swing speed. If you have a lot of power in your golf swing then you will want to make sure that you are using a stiff shaft driver with around 9 or 9.5 degrees of loft. If your swing speed is less than 100 mph then go for a driver that has a regular flex or senior flex and a loft over 10 degrees. Look for simulators at the golf stores where you can try out various lofts and also consider getting custom fit clubs to make sure that you are getting the best performance from the clubs you are using. The Key to Your Short Game
Understanding that golf is a thinking man's game, you will discover the key to your short game. This concept will improve your game and lower your scores! Truly!
Let's look at this concept a little closer.
When you have a shot of 125 yards or more, you only have two decisions to make. Those decisions are basically which club to use and the target.
However, for shorter shots, the decisions increase.
Let me explain.
The closer you are to the green, you will need to determine whether to hit a high soft shot or a low running shot. But first, you will need to decide how hard you will need to hit the ball depending on what the lay of the land is and the slopes involved. Then you must consider what type of grass you are dealing with, because different grasses will cause your shot to do different things. So be aware! If you happen to land in a bunker, you will need to know what the sand texture is. Is it soft or somewhat hard packed or something in between? Also, is there moisture on the course and green? If so, this will affect your shot as well. So take note!
Once you know the type of situation you are facing, then you need to decide what type of shot you will be hitting.
The high soft shot is more difficult to control. So it's preferable to use the low running shot whenever possible.
To hit a low running shot, take a slightly open stance. An open stance is created by taking your normal stance and then moving your left foot back toward yourself (for right handed players) to make a line from the golfer's right shoe to the left shoe (if extended) so it will point to the left of the target rather than directly at the target. Play the ball back in your stance and keep most of your weight on your left leg (for right handed golfers). Keep the club face square to your target with the hands ahead of the club head. You may also need to choke down on the club a bit depending on your circumstances. Make a shallow 'U' shaped swing keeping your wrists firm through the swing. It's best not to release the club head at impact. Finish the swing low with a short follow through as pictured below.
When hitting a high floating shot, you also need to take a slightly open stance, but play the ball forward in your stance. This time, open the club face and keep your hands even with the club face. Make a steep 'V-shaped' swing and keep your wrists actively hinging with a full release at impact. Follow through completely and maintain correct balance.
