Are You Using Your Golf Mind Properly to Improve Your Golf Game and Mental Confidence, Calm Nerves? - ...without thinking (after the conscious mind struggled trying to learn it) or driving a car, riding a bike, getting dressed. Any thing you do without having to "Consciously" think about how to perform. In golf it is very important for you to accept that it is a target driven game. You want to send your ball from where it is to a specific target somewhere up front, either in the fairway or onto a green. The targets you pick must be precise, not "more or less" in the fairway, but to a precise point - ALWAYS - every shot from Driver to Putter. Target driven golf, everything moves toward the target, your thinking, your body, your swing...

The Golf Swing Basics - 3 Simple Steps to Making You a Better Golfer - ...about hitting the golf ball as far as you can. Focus more on technique and in particular your short game. The shorter shots tend to be easier to control so this is where your edge is. You can spend more time on your driver later on. Just think - if you can master the short game then when you come to putting more effort into your longer shots you could be unstoppable. This also includes putting - no point in driving 300 yards if you're going to 3 putt your way around. 3) Develop a pre-shot routine...

Use Your Golf Mind As it Was Designed to Play Great Golf Shots More Consistently

What I am about to say to you simply cannot be over- emphasised. I call your full attention to this and if you have read any of my other articles you will know that I am constantly underlining and highlighting this point.

Would you like to play the kind of golf you know you are capable and do that on a more consistent basis than you have ever done in the past?

Do you want to come off the 18th green feeling like golf was easy, automatic and seriously enjoyable?

Would you like to have the SKILL (secret weapon?) to play great golf at a level that most amateurs will never attain?

If so then you must learn to tap into your unconscious mind and trust it completely to perform the task of swinging the golf club for you. This means that you have no thought of what you should be doing with your swing or about the consequences of any shot, good or bad. No memory of any swing prior to the one you are now making.

There is only the present moment and you should not be consciously in charge of the swing mechanics of your body. In other words if you are trying to make your body work in a certain way with conscious thoughts of body moves, THAT IS SERIOUSLY WRONG!

To do this, to learn to stay in the present moment and trust your unconscious, you must become incredibly target focussed with your conscious mind. This is where all your effort should be, intense and powerful focus on a precise target.

Can you imagine a hunting dog as it stands prone, intense focus on it's target, the eyes zeroed in? How about a lion stalking it's prey. Do you think it is worried about how it's body works or is the big cat completely focussed on it's target?

This is how intense you should focus on your intended target and as you do that better and better, more and more, your unconscious will be able to take full control of your body, with no interference from you, and your shot making and results will get better and better. The quicker you learn this aspect by The Mental Game of Golf, the quicker you will experience true happiness on the golf course.

If you are new to this then here is a little routine you can start out with that will start you on the road before fully committing to golfing excellence by a full Mental Game of Golf program of improvement.

Assess the situation. Allow your eyes to scan around and feel like you are not thinking too consciously but just allowing your own mind to use your eyes to take in information about the scene, situation and target.

Target with precision. Never try to get the ball somewhere in the fairway or just on the green someplace. You must take precise aim at a highly specific point as this is how your mind will work at it's most efficient and seriously focussed state. Think of yourself as a marksman (or woman) at a shooting contest and you must hit bulls-eye to win. Nothing else matters because nothing else is good enough than hitting the bull when you need to win, I know you agree. The precise targets should be the smallest thing you can pick without eye strain.

Visualise, visualise, visualise! You must make strong internal representations of what the flight of the ball will look like from where it is now to precisely where you want it to go. How does it fly, land, bounce and run out? How does it roll if it's a putt? See the shot, hear the sounds of a great shot and feel what it feels like to make that swing. If you think your visualisation needs practice then just describe the shot to yourself as you make swings which feel like they send the ball exactly as you want it to go to your precise target.

Make proper practice swings. When you are happy that you have a shot in mind that you can achieve then make a few full practice swings allowing your mind to move your body in a way that feels exactly like the swing your body will want to make to send the ball to your precise target spot. The practice swing you make must mimic the exact swing you will be making.

Trust and fire away. Get your setup done, take a last look at your bulls-eye, imagine the ball going there (A drive, iron, pitch, chip or putt) then look back at the ball and while still thinking of the target, swing away in complete trust.

Now I am not saying that this system will make sure you hit every shot perfectly because it will not but it is the most efficient and consistent way to play your best golf. It is a system used by top professionals and it will work for you but you must commit to doing on every shot for the rest of your golfing days. You will get better and better at being able to do it and as your skill in targeting with your conscious, tapping into your unconscious and trusting the swing increases, so will your playing results and enjoyment.

Effective Free Golf Tips For Lower Scoring - ...golf involves learning how to putt, chip and hit wedge shots. For most players, at least 60 percent of their shots during a round of golf is made up of shots inside 150 yards. You will more than likely not hit every green in regulation during a round so learning to chip well is important and can help you lower your scores quite quickly. The practice green is where you can learn how to chip so be sure to spend as much time as you can mastering this part of the game. With chipping you want to use an open stance where your feet are pointed to the left of the target and place the ball around the middle of your stance. Use a short backswing and be sure to accelerate and follow through properly. You may need ...
